International students seeking admissions to the finest universities in the United States will benefit from the superior instruction, expert advisement and intensive coaching that has successfully benefited over one thousand graduates of the program.

Seminar Overview:

Next summer (July 2016), ACS will commence the Pre-Medical Scholars Seminar, a unique summer program designed for motivated, high-achieving, high school students who seek future medical school admissions. The ACS Pre-medical Scholars Program will be a two-week, intensive program that will prepare students' to successfully apply to Honors or accelerated medical programs in the USA.  Commencing the summer after the student's sophomore year, this program will help build the intellectual skills and competencies necessary for a successful high school and collegiate focus in pre-medical studies. Students will be privy to specialized lectures introducing a variety of topics: medical ethics; the musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, and gastrointestinal systems; emerging medical technologies; communicable and infectious diseases; and pharmacology. Because pre-medical awareness for most high school students is limited, this program will offer labs and seminars to engage students in practical applications of their pre-medical preparation. Students will also be provided with assistance in developing their future medical school resumes and essays, specifically in topics required by the American Medical College

Additionally, expert instruction on the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the SAT Test will be provided and daily practice exercises and exams on these SAT test sections will be administered.  During the seminar, college application options will discussed so that participants can make more informed choices about applying to American colleges and universities. Additionally, students will receive expert instruction on writing their personal statements and college essays utilizing ACS' five-part, writing program. Upon completion of the week-long workshop, participants will be prepared to complete stronger original essays, effective resumes, and college applications that will reflect their unique strengths, talents, and aspirations. Following the summer seminar, students will continue to receive ONE ACADEMIC YEAR of continued support for college essays and applications. Through email or video-conferencing, students will receive assistance during the entire application process.

The ACS College Prep/Pre-medical Scholars Seminar will include:

  • Examining the student’s personal and academic history to identify and develop realistic and appropriate action plans that will complement the student and family’s academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • SAT Critical Reading: Strategies for reading success and daily test practice.
  • SAT Writing preparation: Daily grammar exercises and short-essay writing instruction.
  • College Exploration: In-depth discussions on selective US colleges and universities--their environments, resources, and academic programs--while specifically addressing how American colleges differ from each other and how "fit" matters in the college admissions success.
  • Application Process: A thorough examination of the selective college admissions process and tips for creating unique and effective application packages--without gimmicks.
  • Application Preparation: Essay development, resume creation, and interview preparation.
